Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Man and a Van Camden is committed to conducting business ethically and with integrity in all our operations. We fully support the eradication of modern slavery and human trafficking in all its forms and recognise our responsibility to prevent these abuses within our business and supply chains. This statement sets out the steps we are taking to identify, prevent, and address modern slavery risks.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Man and a Van Camden provides local and regional transport, removal, and delivery services. Our operations rely on a network of employees, self-employed drivers, subcontractors, and suppliers who provide vehicles, fuel, equipment, storage, and related services. We understand that the logistics and transport sector can be vulnerable to labour exploitation, particularly through complex subcontracting arrangements and the use of temporary or agency workers.
We are committed to working only with business partners who share our values and demonstrate a clear commitment to human rights, fair working practices, and compliance with all relevant laws on modern slavery and human trafficking.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
We operate a strict zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to all aspects of our business and to everyone who works for or with Man and a Van Camden. Any form of forced labour, debt bondage, child labour that is exploitative or illegal, human trafficking, or exploitation of vulnerable individuals is strictly prohibited.
We expect all employees, contractors, drivers, and suppliers to uphold this zero-tolerance policy. Any breach, or suspected breach, will be treated as a serious matter, which may result in termination of contracts, disciplinary action, or reporting to the relevant authorities where appropriate.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are strengthening our supplier due diligence processes to help ensure that modern slavery risks are understood and managed throughout our supply chain. Our approach includes the following measures:
We assess new suppliers on their labour practices, working conditions, and compliance with modern slavery legislation. We give preference to suppliers that can demonstrate clear policies and actions to combat modern slavery and human trafficking.
We are developing a structured audit process for key suppliers and high-risk categories. These audits may include reviews of employment records, worker verification, and checks on subcontracting practices. Where necessary, we may conduct on-site visits or require suppliers to complete detailed self-assessment questionnaires.
If we identify any non-compliance or areas of concern, we will work with the supplier to agree on corrective actions and timeframes. If improvement is not achieved or if serious breaches are discovered, we will consider suspending or ending the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Man and a Van Camden encourages anyone connected with our business to report concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices without fear of retaliation. This includes employees, drivers, subcontractors, suppliers, and members of the public who become aware of potential issues.
Reports can be made directly to management or through existing internal reporting routes. All concerns raised will be treated seriously, investigated promptly, and handled as confidentially as possible. We will take appropriate action in response to any substantiated allegation, which may include notifying law enforcement or regulatory bodies.
We also encourage our suppliers to implement and promote their own whistleblowing mechanisms so that workers in our extended supply chain can safely raise concerns.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks within our organisation. Relevant staff, including those involved in recruitment, supplier selection, and contract management, will receive guidance on how to identify warning signs and respond to potential cases of exploitation.
We will share our expectations on modern slavery with new employees and contractors as part of their introduction to the business, reinforcing the importance of ethical conduct and respect for human rights.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our modern slavery commitments rests with the senior management of Man and a Van Camden. They are accountable for ensuring that the policies and procedures described in this statement are implemented and continuously improved.
We will review this Modern Slavery Statement at least once every twelve months to assess its effectiveness and to reflect any changes in our operations, supply chains, or legal requirements. During each review, we will consider feedback from stakeholders, the results of supplier audits, emerging risks, and best practice guidance.
Following each annual review, we will update the statement where necessary and communicate any significant changes to employees, contractors, and key suppliers. Our aim is to achieve ongoing improvement in how we identify and manage modern slavery risks, and to promote a culture where exploitation has no place in our business or supply chains.
